Packages are a great way for event companies to show off their offerings, simplify their sales process, and upsell clients. Not to mention the fact that package pricing can be financially advantageous.

So, with our latest update to Goodshuffle Pro, we wanted to give event pros a way to Customize Packages.

To sum it up quickly:

  • You can now customize Packages for individual events, without affecting the original Package contents.
  • You can also add Services to Packages, which allows you to arrange your Quotes in the way that works best for your business.

If you’re curious how it all works, keep reading.

Customize Packages For Specific Events

When you build a Custom Package, it stays custom. Until you decide you want to add, remove, or edit items, it’ll remain how you built it — even if you want to alter it within a specific Quote.

For instance, let’s say you’ve got a wedding tent cooling package you use for all of your summer weddings. But your new client’s venue is bigger than usual, and you need to add an extra AC unit.

No problem. You can add the additional unit to the cooling package as you build their Quote, while your core Package remains the same.

This is a game-changer in allowing you to customize Packages for each event while keeping your main offerings the same.

Add Services to Packages: Two Ways

Your ability to pull off amazing events isn’t just based on the quantity and variety of inventory items you have. It also relies on your expertise, care, and time.

And now, you can make sure your hard work is accounted for by adding Services to Packages — whether those services are delivery, florals, or custom in-house services.

You also have a couple different options when it comes to services as line items, so you can pick which works best for your business:

Option #1: Create a New Line Item Group For Services

The first option is to create a new Line Item Group for your Services on a Project. So you might have one Line Item Group for Rental Items and another for Services. Some users prefer this so they can see visually the separation between their products and services.

Option #2: Add Services Based on Line Item Group

You can also choose to add Services based on the Line Item Group.

Let’s say you build your quote to contain a Line Item Group for each location. Maybe the event has two parts: a ceremony and a reception. You can add the Services required under each of those Line Item Groups, so it’s clear to you and the client what products and services are involved.

Additional Option: Associated Services

However you choose to organize your Line Item Groups, you can also choose to include Associated Services in your Packages.

Let’s go back to that wedding tent cooling package. You can include the attendant and generator servicing as an Associated Service under that Package — that way, you’re automatically including any services required with an item.

We see a lot of event companies using Associated Services for Services like tent setup, pipe and drapes, and bartender services.

Pro Tip: Add staff into your Inventory as Services with an hourly rate. That way, you can track scheduling conflicts and availability. You’ll never have to worry about overbooking a DJ again.
