These social media tips will have you generating lead after lead.
Hi y’all,
Welcome back to Busy Season, your guide to the hot takes, pro tips, and real stories sweeping the events industry.
This week I want to talk about a huge lead-generating mechanism: social media. Are you using it to its full potential? Let’s find out!
In the events industry, social media = social proof. It’s your place to show off your business’s personality and highlight your proudest achievements, not to mention drive new business.
But are you getting the most out of social media? There are two big areas many folks tend to overlook:
1. Include quality photos
It would be great if potential clients all came straight to your website or showroom during their research phase. But in 2024, the reality is that many of them (especially millennials) treat your social media page as your digital storefront.
Not all your photos need to look like a magazine spread, but they should be professional and highlight the best parts of your product or service offering. Even something as simple as this Centric Events post highlights the quality of a job well done.
You should also include some behind-the-scenes photos in your feed of event setup. And don’t overthink it! Kate Ryan Event Rentals did a great job at showing how an event setup magically came together in this post.
Helpful hint: Bring some extra items with you that day to create a couple different looks, like additional pillows for lounge seating or different napkins. Make sure you also tag frendors that make the magic happen with you for added visibility across your networks like Sandone Productions did.
2. Be authentic
In the old days of social media, beautiful staged photos would be enough to have a great presence. But lately, I find myself engaging more with accounts that feature genuine personalities — and I’m not alone.
The ‘social’ aspect of social media is becoming front and center, and the more your content makes someone think or sparks a debate in the comments, the more your brand will stand out.
Finally, show off photos of you and your team. Folks do business with people they know, like, and trust, not just because your photos are pretty.
Let your prospective clients get to know you, not just your work, and you’ll go far!
See you next Tuesday,
Mallory Mullen
