While everyone’s chasing the next big trend, 2025’s event champions will be the ones who nail the basics.
Hi y’all,
I’m fresh off of the ARA Show 2025, where I had an incredible time meeting all of you! The conversations were eye-opening, and one theme stood out: running an event business in 2025 isn’t getting any easier. But the pros who adapt will be the ones who thrive. Here are a few key challenges — and how to tackle them.
1. Retaining & engaging your crew
A common struggle? Keeping the same reliable team year after year. Your best workers aren’t just looking for a paycheck — they want to feel valued. Consider offering returning staff bonuses, leadership opportunities, and predictable schedules to keep them engaged. A happy, experienced team means fewer hiring headaches and better-run events.
2. Navigating economic pressures
With inflation still driving up costs, profit margins are tighter than ever. Material costs, fuel, and labor aren’t getting cheaper, so pricing smarter is key. Audit your expenses, adjust pricing where necessary, and ensure you’re charging for your full value. Diversifying revenue streams — like offering premium packages or upsells — can also help stabilize cash flow.
3. Finding your niche & owning it
With more competition than ever, standing out is everything. Do you know why clients pick you over others? If not, consider asking. It could be your inventory, customer service, or reliability. Leaning into what makes you different will help you attract more of the right clients — and build a stronger, more profitable business.
2025 is full of challenges, but I have no doubt this community is up for it. What’s your biggest focus this year? Hit reply and let me know!
See you next Tuesday,
Mallory Mullen
